Description:

The Albacore is the easiest Tuna to identify because of its extra-long pectoral fins, and because the trailing edge of the tail is white. Unfortunately, these indicators are seldom put to use in this area, where the Albacore is the most rare Tuna.

Feeding Habits:

Albacore eat a diet of sardines, squid, herring and other small fish.

Range:

Albacore are sometimes caught in deep waters off the Florida Gulf and Northern Atlantic Coasts. They are said to occur throughout the tropics, but are uncommon in the Bahamas and Caribbean. They prefer cooler waters.

Habitat:

Albacore prefer the open sea.

Typical Size:

They typical size of the Albacore is usually between 10 and 50 pounds, but they sometimes exceed 80 pounds.
