Description:

Body Greenish in life, with blue reflections dorsal to narrow silvery longitudinal stripe that is prominent from the base of caudal fin, but not as prominent as in the striped anchovy.

Feeding Habits:

Bay Anchovy feed on plankton.

Range:

Found in the western Atlantic from Casco Bay, Maine south to Florida Keys and westward around the Gulf of Mexico.

Habitat:

Bay anchovies inhabit primarily shallow bays and estuaries but also occur in tidal freshwater habitats.

Typical Size:

Anchovy will rarely reach more than 4 inches in length.
