Description:
These fish have two widely separated fleshy tabs on the inside of the rear edge of the gill chamber, and scutes are pre-sent only on the rear part of the lateral line.

Found along the gulf coast and in other temperate waters.
Habitat:
Found offshore usually in the 20-60 feet range.
Typical Size:
Small in size the scad are used as baitfish.
