Description:

The Striped Mullet color is bluish-gray or green above, shading to silver on sides with distinct horizontal black barrings, white below; fins lightly scaled at base, unscaled above; blunt nose and small mouth; second dorsal fin originates behind that of the dorsal fin.

Feeding Habits:

The mullet feed on plankton and small invertebrates.

Range:

Found worldwide in warm coastal waters.

Habitat:

They spend a great deal of time close to shore around the mouths of streams and rivers or in brackish bays, inlets and lagoons with sand or mud bottoms in warm temperate waters.

Typical Size:

Adults grow to a length of 9-12 inches and average 1/2-1 pound.
