Description: |
The Yellowfin Grouper’s head and body have red spots and irregular longitudinal rows of rounded dark blotches. The Yellowfin is named for its pectoral fin, which has a yellow margin. The Yellowfin Grouper has 11 dorsal spines, usually 16 dorsal rays, usually 11 anal rays, and usually 17 pectoral rays. Its posterior nostril is larger than the interior and the posterior margin of the caudal fin is concave. |

Their diet consist of mostly fish and squid, but they eat crustaceans as well. |

All Florida and the Bahamas. |
Habitat: |
Yellowfin usually occur on rocky bottoms in shallow to medium-depth water. It is frequently taken around coral heads. |
